Lake Michigan

This past Tuesday, I woke Ben up and asked if he wanted to play hookie for the morning. He did not have to work that night but I knew that he had a lot of shool work to do and so did I. However, he said sure, so we headed to Michigan to have lunch and go to the beach.
We decided to eat at Redamaks. They have the best burgers, EVER, and I had been begging Ben to take me there since summer started. Amelia is usually very good at restaurants but on this day she decided to scream bloody murder when a man said hello to her. She turned beat red and would not stop crying until I had picked her up. She continued to grunt and whine the whole rest of the meal. She was such a little monkey.
I was pretty sure that my day was ruined because as we headed out of the restaurant it started sprinkling. Who takes their kid to the beach when it is raining? Apparently, we do.
I told Ben we should just go home since Amelia was in a bad mood and it was sprinkling. He pulled into the parking lot at the beach claiming he had not heard me. By this time it was done sprinkling. There was no sun but we found that this is the best time to take your 10 month old to the beach. The sand was not hot and there were not millions of people around. We had a blast! She played in the sand and at the playground!
With Ben's work schedule and school work, plus my school work and Amelia ,we feel that on our days off we are constantly trying to get the housework done or work in the yard. I am really glad we played hookie on Tuesday, we had a great time and great memories of Amelia's first time at the beach.
Love - Us

She loved the swings! She laughed and laughed! We really need to invest in one of those!

Don't ask me why I have a sun hat on her when there was no sun!

My favorite picture!

There were two little girls she kept watching. I think she was hoping they were her cousins!

Ben took Amelia down the twisty slide. She didn't mind it but I think Daddy enjoyed it more than she did.

I almost had a heart attack when they came down like this. I thought she was going to have damage to her head.

Just joking, that picture was staged! You know Ben, he likes to create drama!

She was not to thrilled with the little slide either.

By the time we hit this, she was done.

Looking at the swings.

She was slightly scared of the water.

Wondering what all the hoop la is about.

div> She is not quite sure if she should sit down or not.

Now we like the sand. Sand is fun!
Hmmm.....I wonder if that is a big bathtub?

I might have to check that out now.

Cold and gritty. I need some of this at home.

She was crawling all over the place.

Daddy and Amelia.

Taking in the view.

I bet she loved crawling all over the beach!!! You guys are going to have to do that more often! Is this a restaurant that we might get to try the next time we come up? I don't blame her for not wanting to ride that rocking animal (whatever it is!), her sweatshirt was hiked up over her tummy and her tummy was hanging over the top of her pants!! I don't think she was too comfortable!

Amelia wears hats because she's so cute in them! Looks like you all had fun at the beach. You can tell she's getting older by the stranger thing. It seems every child goes through that at one time or another. Take care and enjoy your summer. She'll be a year old before you know it!

I'm with Grandma Cooper on the restaurant. Your right about the swing tho. They usually love them. Put one in your living room and turn on veggie tales and she should be good for awhile. You can get lots done that way. Or I could just come play with her. I wish!

The hat is adorable!! And she seems okay wearing it so just keep putting them on her :)

I see a sandbox and swing on her Christmas list!

Looks like the swing was the highpoint of the day. Was that restaurant the one you guys took us to last summer? They had great burgers. Dad

Haha...what a funny girl!! I'm glad she enjoyed the beach so much!! Tell her to take it all in because when she moves to Minnesota the only thing she will have to play in is snow!! I about had a heart attack too when I saw that picture of Ben and Millie on the slide..I yelled out loud "BEN" (Ben, you know how I sound, you hear me saying that to you all the time!) Gotta keep on your toes with those two!!

Love you!

Were you able to keep her from putting the sand in her mouth, as that is usually the first place everything goes?

I love the picture captioned, "Looking at the swings."!! Too funny! She's so much fun and such a little daredevil! Much braver than her cousin, Jacob!
Great seeing you all last weekend! We were so glad that Ben could make it down too!
Love ya,
Kim
